Google Pixel 11 review: a good phone at a hard price
GSMArena measured 15.67 hours of active use and a 5x zoom that holds up, but at $899 list the slow Tensor G6 is hard to defend. I'd buy one during a $200-off promo and not otherwise.

Pixel 10 owners can stop reading. GSMArena found very little changed, and I can't build a case for spending anything on this upgrade (checked Nov 1, 2026).
For everybody else, the question is narrower. Is a phone with a slow chip and a good zoom lens worth $899? At list, I don't think it is. With money off, I'd take a harder look. The 7.1 is my opinion, drawn from GSMArena's tests and the store pages listed under Sources.
Today's price, and the deadline
As of November 1, 2026, the list price is $899 for 256GB and, per GSMArena, $1,019 for 512GB. The Google Store also showed a $200-off promo through November 8. I'd call that the street price if it applies to the model you want, and I couldn't check the terms, so read them before you count on it. I couldn't confirm a street price at any other retailer.
If you're reading this after November 8, assume $899 unless the store says otherwise.
What GSMArena liked
Battery
The 4,985 mAh cell posted 15.67 hours in GSMArena's active-use score, and battery life improved over Pixel 10 in each of its tests. That's a good result, though not a remarkable one at this price. The Galaxy S26 scored 15.33 hours from a smaller 4,300 mAh battery.
Screen
GSMArena measured around 2,100 nits in a 75% window and about 2,800 nits at peak in a 10% window, with a floor of 1.7 nits. That's bright enough for any beach and dim enough for bed. HDR support gets high marks too.
Zoom
The 5x telephoto is the reason I'd pick this over the iPhone 17, which has none. GSMArena calls it useful, and praises the selfies and camera consistency. It isn't sharp beyond the native 5x, though, so don't plan on 20x shots from a 10.8 MP sensor.
Years of updates
Seven years of software support, with clean Android 17 at launch. If you keep phones until they fall apart, this is real money saved. It's a point the $899 price gets right.
Where it falls short
Four complaints, in order of how much they'd bother me.
- The chip. GSMArena says the Tensor G6 GPU barely moved and trails rival chips, and there's no hardware ray tracing. That's the core problem with the price.
- Gaming. The screen switches only between 60 and 120 Hz, and most high-refresh games stayed locked at 60 Hz in GSMArena's test. If you play a lot, don't buy this.
- Wired charging. It's 30W. GSMArena got almost 60% in 30 minutes and a full charge in 1 h 20 min, and calls that slow by current Android standards. Qi2.2 wireless at up to 25W helps a bit.
- The ultrawide. No autofocus.
What the alternatives cost
Money decides this one, so here's the set I'd weigh. All are list or store prices checked November 1, 2026.
- Pixel 10a, $599 list. You save $300 and keep seven years of updates. GSMArena measured 15.22 hours of active use, only 0.45 less. You lose the zoom lens and get a Tensor G4, thick bezels and a plastic back. GSMArena also calls it the Pixel 9a at a considerably higher price.
- Galaxy S26, $849.99 at samsung.com. That's $49.01 less than the Pixel, with a 3x telephoto, a 167 g body and seven years of updates. Its flaw, per GSMArena, is that charging lags rivals at 25W.
- iPhone 17, $929 list with no carrier attached. Lighter, much faster, no telephoto. I compare those two in detail in Pixel 11 vs iPhone 17.
Against that list, GSMArena's complaint that $899 is hard to justify looks fair to me. The S26 costs less and I'd expect it to run games better on its Snapdragon chip.
My call
I'd buy the Pixel 11 only with the $200 off. At that price it undercuts the S26 and I'd happily live with slow charging for a 5x lens and seven years of Android.
At $899, I'd take the S26 and spend the $49 on a case.
