I read the lab tests so you don't have to
Gadget Otter is a small electronics review site, part of the Future Begins network. I'm Pasha, and I tell you what I'd do with my own money.
Gadget Otter covers phones, headphones, laptops and other electronics. It's part of the Future Begins network, and I'm the author, Pasha.
How reviews get made
I don't run a lab. I work from published lab tests, manufacturer specs and current prices, and I don't have every device in hand. So you won't find me telling you how a phone felt in my pocket.
The process is simple:
- I read what outlets like RTINGS, SoundGuys, GSMArena and Notebookcheck measured.
- I check the current price and note the date.
- I look for where those outlets disagree, and I tell you when they do.
- I decide what I'd buy, and write down why.
Every measurement names its outlet in the sentence, and the link sits under Sources at the bottom of the page. If the battery number is from RTINGS, the sentence says RTINGS.
What the scores mean
Scores are my opinion from that evidence. They aren't lab results, and I don't average anyone else's numbers to reach them. A score of 7.1 means I think the phone is decent but overpriced. It doesn't mean a machine rated it.
Ratings aren't paid for. A brand can't buy one, and the commission a link might earn doesn't change one.
Why trust any of this?
You don't have to. Click through and read the tests yourself. That's why every page lists them.
Questions people ask
Did you test this device yourself?
Assume not, unless a page says otherwise. I work from published lab tests, spec sheets and current prices, and I don't have every device in hand. Each measurement names the outlet that took it.
Where do the scores come from?
They're my opinion, formed from the evidence listed on each page. Two people could read the same tests and land half a point apart.
Can a brand pay for a better rating?
No. Ratings aren't paid for. Stores pay me a commission on some links, your price stays the same, and the affiliate disclosure page explains how that works.
How current are the prices?
Each review and comparison prints the date I checked prices and says which is list and which is street. If I couldn't confirm a price, the page says so.
